Why? Now don’t get me wrong I actually like jack black as a actor performer. I just don’t find him all that funny. Now remember he is a trained actor who is part of tim robbins theater troupe. Who just so happens to be in a lot of comedies.  i think with him it’s his rambunctious energy that is so appealing about him.  I like the music of tenacious d. I didn’t mind the usual array of cameos Ben stiller, Fred Armisen, Meatloaf, Ronnie James Dio, Dave grohl as the devil and Tim Robbins. Who provides one of the few funny scenes in the whole film and Amy Poehler who to me can make any material shine with her comic brilliance.

Alas this film which has as many funny scenes as I can count on one hand. 3 in all maybe. I just don’t get it this seemed like a stoner movie to me. I don’t get stoned so the film just wasn’t any good. I really wanted to like it. The story is about how tenacious d got together and go on a search for the pick of destiny. which all the great guitarists in rock have used it’s a chip from the devil’s tooth will they find it ? will they rock out ? I’ll let you guess. but I expect better material with all the minds behind this there should have been more of an effort.

Maybe the film will grow on me over the years. Anchorman has. At first i hated it and I wanted to love it. But with repeat viewings on cable. I always find a new thing to admire about it. be it a one-liner or something going on in the background. Now I love it. but with this film even with further viewing. I doubt it will have the same outcome
